Though the barn feels like a private retreat, you’ll find that you’re perfectly situated to explore all that Norfolk has to offer. A short drive takes you to the stunning Norfolk Coast, where you can enjoy everything from coastal walks to exploring charming seaside towns. If you’re a nature lover, the Norfolk Broads are just around the corner, offering endless opportunities for boating, cycling, and wildlife spotting.
Local Beaches
The North Norfolk coastline is home to some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the UK. Among our favourites are West Runton, Mundesley, Sheringham, Overstrand, Cromer, and Waxham — each offering its own unique charm.
While you’re exploring, why not try your hand at crabbing in Wells or Blakeney? Alternatively, you could take a boat trip from Morston Quay to see the famous colony of seals, a truly memorable experience.

Homes & Gardens
We highly recommend a visit to the National Trust’s Blickling Hall, located just four miles from the barn and once home to Anne Boleyn. Here, you can explore the stunning historic house or wander through the beautifully maintained gardens. For a more leisurely experience, take a relaxing walk around the park, then enjoy a coffee in the café or a bite to eat at the nearby Bucks Arms.
In addition, other local National Trust properties, including Sheringham Park and Felbrigg Hall, are well worth a visit and offer equally beautiful surroundings to explore.
If you’re heading into Norwich, be sure to visit Norwich Cathedral and Norwich Castle, both rich in history and perfect for a day of sightseeing.
Family Days Out
For those visiting with young children, we highly recommend a trip to ROARR! Dinosaur Park, where you can walk among life-sized dinosaurs for a fun and memorable day out. Alternatively, head to BeWILDerwood, a magical children’s adventure park filled with treehouses, zip wires, and jungle bridges to explore.
For little ones who love trains, the Bure Valley Steam Railway and the North Norfolk Railway are a must. Both offer a charming and scenic way to experience the countryside while enjoying a classic steam train journey.
Eating Out...
We are lucky to have some great pubs locally & highly recommend the following:
- The Banningham Crown
- The Black Boys Hotel
- The Gunton Arms
- The Suffield Arms
- The Bucks Arms
The traditional market town of Aylsham is 4 miles from the barn & offers delicious coffees & pastries at Bread Source, tapas & cocktails at M’s & pizza takeaways at The Proper Pizza Co.
Eating In...
If you are planning to stay in & eat in the comfort of the barn, we can highly recommend the following chefs, who not only cook some amazing food but also do the washing up.
“Our family had a lovely weeks stay here. 9 of us ranging from 3 years - 80s. There was something to accommodate everyone! The Barn was very clean and spacious. The amenities were endless. We felt right at home from the moment we walked in. The books, games and hot tub were a great touch. The views were incredible out of every window. We all had an amazing time and would book again in a heartbeat".
